He has served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to the State of Eritrea, and to Ghana, and established the first Consulate-General of Israel in Bengaluru. He further served as a member of his country's delegations to the 57th and 59th United Nations General Assembly, and was an initiator of the 28th Special Session of the UNGA (an achievement or which he was awarded Outstanding Employee of MFA for the Year 2005). Ambassador Kanafi has conducted numerous high-visibility international negotiations, including serving as Legal Advisor of the Israel delegation to the 5bn. Euro valued Negotiations for the Compensation Fund for Nazi-Era Forced and Slave Labourers for survivors of Nazi atrocities.
